Netflix has set a streaming release date for their upcoming drama TRAIN DREAMS, which will launch on their platform on November 21st, 2025. The film world premiered to great acclaim at this year’s Sundance Film Festival (where Netflix acquired it) and will have a limited theatrical release before its streaming debut.

Train Dreams is directed by Clint Bentley and is an adaptation by Bentley & Greg Kwedar of the 2011 novella by Denis Johnson. It stars Joel Edgerton, Felicity Jones, Kerry Condon, William H. Macy, Clifton Collins Jr., Chuck Tucker, Paul Schneider, John Diehl, and Will Patton.

The film is a story about Robert Grainier, a day laborer employed as a logger helping to expand the railways across America. Forced to spend prolonged periods of time away from his wife, Gladys, and their young daughter, Grainier struggles to make sense of his place in a rapidly changing world. As his story unfolds, he experiences great love, unspeakable loss and unique bonds, on a journey that is both distinct and universal.

We’ve added the release date to our Streaming calendar.
