According to our sources, NEON is expected to release their acclaimed documentary ORWELL: 2 + 2 = 5 on VOD and digital platforms later this month, arriving on October 24th, 2025. The film world premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival before launching in US theaters on October 3rd, 2025.

Please note: NEON has neither announced nor confirmed the release date. As usual, release dates are subject to change.

Orwell: 2+2=5 is directed and produced by Raoul Peck. Damian Lewis narrates the film as Orwell.

George Orwell was one of the most visionary authors of the 20th Century, whose novels, 1984 and Animal Farm, foretold a chilling, authoritarian future. Acclaimed director Raoul Peck (I Am Not Your Negro) interweaves clips, readings from Orwell's diary, cinematic references, and modern-day footage to craft not only a portrait of the writer, but a fresh take on how prophetic his work has become.

Orwell: 2+2=5 was just nominated for seven Critics Choice Documentary Awards, including Best Documentary Feature, Raoul Peck for Best Director, Alexandra Strauss for Best Editing, Alexei Aigui for Best Score, Best Narration (Written by George Orwell, Adapted by Raoul Peck, Performed by Damian Lewis), Best Archival Documentary, and Best Political Documentary.

We’ve added the release date to our Streaming Calendar. Pre-order the film from Amazon below, and check out the official trailer.
