HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON ‘Live Action’ Remake Digital Streaming Release Date Revealed

According to our sources, Universal Pictures is expected to release their ‘live action’ remake of HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON on VOD and digital platforms later this month, arriving on July 15th, 2025. The film launched in US theaters on June 13th, 2025.

How to Train Your Dragon is written, directed and co-produced by Dean DeBlois. It is a live-action adaptation and shot-for-shot remake of DreamWorks Animation's 2010 animated film, which itself is loosely based on the book series by Cressida Cowell.
The film stars Mason Thames, Nico Parker, Nick Frost, Julian Dennison, Gabriel Howell, Bronwyn James, Harry Trevaldwyn, and Ruth Codd, with Gerard Butler reprising his role as Stoick the Vast from the animated films.
In the film, on the rugged isle of Berk, where Vikings and dragons have been bitter enemies for generations, Hiccup stands apart, defying centuries of tradition when he befriends Toothless, a feared Night Fury dragon. Their unlikely bond reveals the true nature of dragons, challenging the very foundations of Viking society.
