Amazon MGM Studios has set a streaming release date for their period drama HEDDA, which will launch on their Prime Video platform on October 29th, 2025. The film is set to world premiere at the 2025 Toronto Film Festival before launching in US theaters in limited release on October 22nd, 2025.
Hedda is written and directed by Nia DaCosta, based on the play Hedda Gabler by Henrik Ibsen. Tessa Thompson stars in the title role and is a producer on the film, with Imogen Poots, Tom Bateman, Nicholas Pinnock, and Nina Hoss in supporting roles.
From writer/director Nia DaCosta comes a provocative, modern reimagining of Henrik Ibsen’s classic play. Hedda (Tessa Thompson) finds herself torn between the lingering ache of a past love and the quiet suffocation of her present life. Over the course of one charged night, long-repressed desires and hidden tensions erupt—pulling her and everyone around her into a spiral of manipulation, passion, and betrayal.
We’ve added the release date to our Streaming calendar.
