PREPARATION FOR THE NEXT LIFE Gets Digital Streaming Release Date

Amazon MGM Studios is set to release their drama PREPARATION FOR THE NEXT LIFE on VOD and digital platforms this week, arriving on September 16th, 2025. The film launched in US theaters in limited release on September 5th, 2025.
Preparation for the Next Life is directed by Bing Liu, from a screenplay by Martyna Majok that is based on the 2014 novel of the same name by Atticus Lish. It stars Sebiye Behtiyar and Fred Hechinger. Barry Jenkins is a co-producer.
In the film, Aishe, a Uyghur woman trained by her military father, migrates to New York City where she finds herself laboring in Chinatown’s underground kitchens. She fatefully encounters Skinner, a young American soldier who has just returned from three tours in the Middle East. While falling in love, they discover the possibility of a better life together than the ones they believed they were destined to live alone.
