Sundance Hit LURKER Gets Official Trailer, Poster, Theatrical Release Date

MUBI has released the official trailer and poster for their upcoming thriller LURKER, which will launch in US theaters on August 22nd, 2025. The film world premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.

Lurker is written and directed by Alex Russell and stars Théodore Pellerin and Archie Madekwe.

The release date falls on a crowded weekend for new releases, with premieres currently scheduled for Sydney Sweeney’s AMERICANA, the Ron Howard thriller EDEN (which also stars Sweeney), Spike Lee’s HIGHEST 2 LOWEST, Ethan Coen’s HONEY DON’T, the Riz Ahmed drama RELAY, and Michael Angelo Covino’s SPLITSVILLE.

In the film, when a twenty-something retail clerk meets a rising pop star, he takes the opportunity to edge his way into the in-crowd. But as the line between friend and fan blurs beyond recognition, access and proximity become a matter of life and death.

The film currently sits at 96% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes and has a score of 75 on Metacritc.
