Acclaimed Italian Drama VERMIGLIO Gets Criterion Channel Streaming Premiere Date

As first reported by Indiewire, the acclaimed Italian drama VERMIGLIO is set to make its SVOD debut later this month, arriving on The Criterion Channel on May 20th, 2025. The film world premiered at the 2024 Venice Film Festival, where it won the Grand Jury Prize, and launched in US theaters in limited release on December 25th, 2024. It debuted for sale and rental on VOD and digital platforms on March 4th.
Vermiglio is written, co-produced and directed by Maura Delpero. It stars Tommaso Ragno, Giuseppe De Domenico, Roberta Rovelli, Martina Scrinzi, Orietta Notari, and Carlotta Gamba.
Set in the small, mountainous village of Vermiglio during the waning days of WWII, a series of dramatic, consequential events unfold after the arrival of a taciturn Sicilian soldier, who hides out in town after deserting the army. While there, the soldier develops a romance with a provincial family’s eldest daughter.
The film will be available on Blu-ray & DVD from Janus Contemporaries on August 26th.
